Drawn to the creative and eclectic, Katie powered her way through a B.S. in Computer Science by taking art history classes at UCSB. After a few bouts with engineering companies and living abroad, she found that her analytical skills could serve the work she loved most; she began working in capacities ranging from development to database administration to event programming at arts organizations such as the City of Ventura Cultural Affairs Division and the Museum of Latin American Art. Wanting to formalize her understanding of the field, she obtained a Masters in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon and was the primary coordinator of the Center for Arts Management and Technology’s first Technology in the Arts conference in 2006.

Currently as Principal at Kite Launch Consulting, she is contracted for special projects as a business analyst and product manager. Past work includes helping to launch the L.A. Music Center’s website, providing analysis support to NTEN and Mobile Active, and researching and developing the domain of grants management solutions for Idealware and Fluxx Labs. She arrived to San Francisco to help nonprofits implement their website solutions at PICnet in 2007, and had a stint as a Systems and Operations Wizard for the Mozilla Foundation in 2010.

From sunny Ojai, CA, Katie stays warm in SF by taking yoga and ballet classes, and traveling to foreign lands.
