Jamari Michael White

Jamari is a Buckeye-born and raised social worker, healer, and creative with a passion for working with diverse youth and young adults. He graduated from The University of Chicago with an A.B. in Comparative Human Development and received his MSW from The Ohio State University. Having worked in a number of mental health and social change arenas, including college mental health, sexual violence prevention education, and community arts, Jamari is excited about the opportunity to join AWI on its creative and social impact journey of promoting and creating spaces of mental wellness for young people. Jamari’s own journey with depression, identity, and grief/loss enables him to intimately connect with and testify to the power of art and media in healing and combating shame and stigma. His personal and professional experiences serve as the foundation for his unwavering belief that art is a universal medium allowing all people to access healing, peace, and belonging. In his work as an educator with AWI, he hopes to be a bridge to that self-discovery for others.
