Rebecca Pontieri
Managing Director and Lead Educator
Rebecca (she/her) is an educator and photographer based in Colorado. She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Pace University in New York City, and Columbia University Teachers College. She was part of the 2003 NYC Teach For America Corps, and taught art and English Language Arts at P.S. 3 in the Bronx, NY, for seven years. After moving to Colorado Springs she joined Atlas Preparatory Middle School as a reading teacher, and went on to serve as a school leader and Principal for the next eleven years. Other professional experience includes working with local arts organizations, board service, and volunteering. Rebecca’s partner is a U.S. Army veteran and they have two young daughters.
Rebecca values empathy, equity, and joyful excellence in her work. Contributing to the pursuit of social justice through education is where she sees her professional calling, and she believes deeply in the brilliance of our young people and their capacity to fulfill their dreams and change our world if they are supported as they deserve to be. She is also reconnecting with her photography practice and is excited to work alongside and learn from the spectacular Art With Impact team as they pursue the AWI mission.
